Independent nonprofit shelter serving York County. Finds homes for displaced and stray animals, accepts stray dogs from York County municipalities that contract with it, investigates and prosecutes cruelty, helps with lost and found pets and offers rehoming help. Also runs a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, a pet food pantry, the CARMA reduced-cost urgent care program and SafePet emergency boarding.

Good to know
- Who can use it: Stray dogs are accepted only from York County municipalities that contract with the shelter. Healthy free-roaming cats are generally not admitted; they are directed to the TNR program.
- How to get started: Visit during public browsing hours or book an appointment to adopt. Call (717) 764-6109 about surrenders, strays and lost pets.
