Quark, a black-and-white tuxedo cat

You heard Sean Arenas talk with Michelle Fern about Quark, his 14-year-old tuxedo cat, and what he learned while searching for help with the cost of Quark’s care. Everything mentioned in the episode is here in one place. It is all free, and you don’t need an account.

Quark’s story

Quark was rescued as a tiny, sick kitten from a shelter in Downey and became Sean’s best friend for 14 years. When he became seriously ill in 2026, the search for care and financial help turned up bounced emails, paused programs and help that didn’t fit. Help My Pet grew out of that search. Raise money for your own pet

Help My Pet can build a fundraiser page for your pet, with your story, merchandise featuring your pet and your donation link in one place. A few sentences and an email are enough to start, and there are no setup or design fees. Merchandise fundraising takes time, so if you need help with a bill right now, start with Paying for Care too. From the conversation

How do you keep fundraisers honest? Michelle asked this at the end of the episode. Families don’t need medical records or paperwork to get started, but every story is reviewed before it goes live, and anyone can report a concern. Read how we keep fundraisers honest →

How do you know a resource is accurate? Every listing shows how it was checked and when, and many are verified against a second, independent source. See how we check resources →
