Ashburnham's Animal Control Department responds to situations involving wild and domestic animals: leash law enforcement, lost and found dogs, loose livestock, animal complaints and cruelty investigations, and dead animals on public ways. It is operated out of the Gardner Police Department and is regionalized with Gardner and Westminster. The town treats only a serious dog bite or a dog hit by a motor vehicle as an emergency.
