Help paying vet bills
Grants toward emergency veterinary care with a good prognosis, for low-income pet owners in and around Bexar County.
Good to know
- Payment policy: The owner pays part of the bill; grants depend on available funding.
- Who can use it: Residents of Bexar County and surrounding Texas counties with household income at or under 180% of the federal poverty guidelines, or on SSI, disability, Medicaid, Medicare or SNAP, unemployed, or facing homelessness or medical hardship. Emergency care with a good prognosis only; not exams or testing alone, preventive care, dental, spay/neuter, flea/tick or euthanasia.
- How to get started: Submit the online Apply for Assistance application with proof of income or financial need and an emergency veterinary estimate; the Grant Review Committee replies with a Letter of Commitment or Denial by email (an email address is required).
