City animal welfare staff investigate animal bites, stray cats and dogs, nuisance animals, aggressive or dangerous dogs, and neglect, abandonment and cruelty cases. Dogs and cats in the city's care are offered for adoption if not claimed. All dogs and cats in city limits must be licensed; a tag and microchip are issued with each license, sold at the Animal Control facility.
