City of Chico animal shelter and animal control, part of the Chico Police Department. The shelter houses stray dogs found in city limits, takes owned dogs from Chico residents on a space-available waiting list, and adopts out animals. Animal Control enforces city animal ordinances, picks up dogs at large and handles rabies quarantine. The shelter no longer accepts surrendered cats or healthy stray cats.
