Raising Money for Your Pet: What to Do Next
You do not need to read all of this. Skim for the part you need. Nothing here is a requirement, and you can do more than one thing at once.
If your pet is in danger right now, go to the nearest emergency vet or call one on the way. Ask for a written estimate and ask what payment options they have. Most can work out payment after your pet is stable. We can help with the rest after.
Pick what fits
- A fundraiser page from us. Free. Send your pet's name and a line about what is going on, and we build it. A photo helps.
- A GoFundMe. The easiest way for people who do not know you to give, and one of the most effective things you can do. See below.
- Merch. Shirts and more with your pet on them, if you want that.
- Grants and charities, low-cost clinics, vouchers, payment plans. Tell us your town and we will look for what is near you. Ways to pay for care.
The money does not have to be only for the vet. Food, rides to appointments, time off work, medicine and end-of-life care all count.
What to send us
Reply to our email or use the request form with your pet's name, a photo if you have one, and a line about what is going on. That is enough. We write the story and build the page, and we look up help in your town. You do not need records, bills or paperwork.
A GoFundMe in ten minutes
- Start at gofundme.com and choose the option for raising money for yourself.
- Title: your pet's name and the need. Example: "Help Brody get seen by a vet."
- Story: what happened, what it will cost or what you are working out, and what a gift helps with. We can write this for you. Short is fine.
- Photo: one clear photo of your pet's face. Add more if you have them.
- Who gets the money: you, in most cases. Follow the steps to connect a bank account.
- Send us the link. We put it on your pet's page.
Want it in your own words with templates, a budget, and ready-to-send messages? The full GoFundMe guide has them.
The first two days matter most
- Message ten to twenty people you know, one at a time, and ask for $5 or $10 and a share. Early gifts make strangers more willing to give.
- Post it where people who love animals already are: your own page, local pet groups that allow it, neighborhood groups.
- Ask your vet, groomer or rescue if they will share it.
- Post a short update after each appointment or good news. People give again when they see what happened.
More on getting strangers to see it: Get it seen by people who can help.
If you do not want a GoFundMe
That is fine. Your page can link to Venmo, Cash App or PayPal. You can do merch only, or skip fundraising and go after grants, charities, low-cost clinics and payment plans. Tell us which and we will help with that.
What we do
We build your page, write the words, find help near you, and show you how to get it seen. We do not take a cut of donations, and we cannot promise how much will come in. We can take your page down or change it any time you ask.
